Let’s talk about something that’s close to my heart – the idea of living a life that's truly ~yours~. As a licensed professional counselor, self-image coach, and yoga teacher, I work with incredible professional women on their spiritual journey towards wellness and purpose-driven living. Today, I want to delve into the liberating concept of living a "by invite only" life, where the judgments of others no longer occupy prime real estate in your mind.

Imagine a world where the opinions of others have no power over you. A world where you can consciously decide which thoughts to entertain and which to dismiss. It might sound like a lofty ideal, but what if I told you it's within your reach? Let's explore this together.

What if you could truly live a life where your mental space was reserved only for thoughts and opinions that serve you? The idea of a "by invite only" life is all about reclaiming your mental territory from the unsolicited judgments and criticisms of others. It's about taking control of your inner world and choosing what gets to stay and what needs to go.

The key to this transformative journey is making a conscious decision every day to not let a single thought pass by without your awareness. It's about becoming the gatekeeper of your mind, deciding which thoughts to allow in and which to reject. It sounds simple, right? Actionable Tips to Reclaim Your Mental Space

Let’s break it down into five beginner-friendly tips that you can start implementing today:

1. Morning Mindset Check-In:

Start each day with a few minutes of reflection. Sit quietly and ask yourself, "What thoughts am I inviting into my day?" This simple practice can help you set the tone for a day filled with intentional thinking.

2. Thought Journaling:

Keep a small notebook or use an app to jot down any judgments or negative thoughts that come your way throughout the day. At the end of the day, review your list and decide which thoughts you want to let go of and which might have some value worth exploring further.

3. Mindful Breathing Breaks:

Whenever you feel overwhelmed by someone else’s opinion, take a moment to breathe deeply. Inhale for a count of four, hold for four, exhale for four, and hold again for four. This 4-4-4-4 breathing technique can help you regain control and clear your mind.

4. Positive Affirmations:

Create a list of positive affirmations that resonate with you. Repeat these affirmations throughout the day to reinforce the thoughts you want to invite into your life. For example, "I am in control of my thoughts," or "I choose to focus on what uplifts me."

5. Boundary Setting:

Practice setting boundaries with others. If someone offers unsolicited advice or criticism, it's okay to politely say, "Thank you for your input, but I'm focusing on my own path right now." This reinforces your commitment to your "by invite only" life.
