Welcome to the second part of the Chakra Series! Each chakra corresponds with a course in the 7-part Love in Action intenSati series.
This series will provide a basic overview and guide to each of the 7 chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown.
For a brief introduction of chakras and the first part of the Chakra Series, see Chakra Series: Root Chakra.
The Sacral Chakra
The second chakra is the sacral chakra. This chakra is located in your pelvic region, in between your hips and belly button. It is the center of creativity, sensuality, playfulness, and self-worth. The color associated with the sacral chakra is orange, like a flame — it lights the fire and passion inside you!
An imbalance in the sacral chakra may appear as anhedonia, or a general lack of pleasure and excitement in life. You may feel overwhelmed, bored, stuck in your thoughts, or unable to get your creative juices flowing if your sacral chakra is out of wack.
As self love is a huge element of the sacral chakra, you may also feel unworthy or be exhibiting self-judgement with imbalance. Check in with your thoughts and instead of judging simply observe with an open and mindful attitude. Send love to yourself instead of criticism.
Physically, an imbalance may show up as bladder, reproductive, or lower intestine issues. Pay attention to your body’s physical sensations and needs; your body may be telling you something.
A balance in the sacral chakra is seen as passion— for life, love, relationships, creative projects, and overall health and wellness. If your sacral chakra is balanced, you are in tune with your emotions, sending love to yourself and others, comfortable with intimacy, working towards goals, and thriving.
To achieve a balanced sacral chakra, try setting aside time for you. This can look different for everyone, but some examples are pampering yourself, doing things you genuinely enjoy, doing something romantic or sensual, letting your imagination run wild, integrating pleasure in small things throughout your day, and sending loving thoughts to your body. The sacral chakra also thrives with movement, especially in your hips! Dance, do yoga, put on your favorite intenSati video, or simply get your body moving.
Light that fire inside you by paying attention to loving vs. judgemental thoughts, focusing on fun, playfulness, and pleasure, and appreciating your physical body. You deserve to treat yourself and have an active passion for your life!
