Stop Talking About What You Don't Want!

Do you notice the negative talk lately? Complaints, judgements, criticism. Maybe it's about your family, friends, co-workers, and even about yourself. 

There's nothing wrong with noticing what you don't want.

Now it's time to move on. 

I got into coaching after my clients kept telling me "you're not a therapist, you're a coach". Back in the early 2000's, coaches were in football, baseball and other sports. I had no idea what they were talking about. And then they shared.....

"you don't let me stay stuck in what I don't want. I don't get to come in here every week and just complain. (heck no!) You help me see possibility. You show me that I have choices, that I can decided what to do in my life, create what I want. 

Well of course! Isn't that what's it's all about - creating positive change? 

Apparently not all therapists work this way. 

And this might be why so many of my clients are living their best life - reaching their goals, having loving relationships, traveling, creating a life they love. 

It's possible for you too! You have to shift your energy, thoughts, and attention to what you Do want, and stop feeding what you DON'T want.

Happiness is Not Something You Achieve

Happiness is defined as a state of emotional well-being that a person experiences.

If you google 'happiness', you will also find what scientists have to say:
There are three things that make people most happy - PLEASURE (doing things you enjoy), ENGAGEMENT (feeling interested in your activities and connected to others), and MEANING (feeling like what you do matters).

Do you notice the common thread in these 3 aspects of happiness? 

They all have to do with 'doing' something. 

What I find interesting is that many of my clients that show up to work with me have been in the 'doing' of achieving for so long and now feel burnt out, exhausted and unfulfilled.  They are miles away of from happiness. 

Happiness is a feeling - regardless of what's going on around you. 

I know that sounds a little backwards. We've been sold this lie that we have to achieve and earn and get all this stuff and then we'll be happy. But it doesn't seem to be working out that way. 

Having studied with the experts in the field of personal development and mindset practices, I have learned that happiness is a state of being and that we can achieve the happiness factor FIRST and then allow it to be the main ingredient to 'doing' what we love.
